SHOULD I STOP RETINOL THIS SUMMER?

While it's true that retinol can make skin more photo-sensitive, summer might just be the perfect time to use it.

1. Retinol is safe to use in summer. But...

Retinol speeds up cell turnover—the secret behind its renewing power. But those fresh skin cells are extra-sensitive to light. To keep retinol in your routine, daytime sunscreen use is non-negotiable. Use an SPF 50, and reapply every four hours if outdoors.

2. Nighttime is the right time.

You should only apply retinol-based products at night, before bed. Keep it out of your AM routine.
