Under every great foundation is an even greater primer, which is why we're obsessed with this one from Dr. Brandt Skincare. This pick acts as a two-in-one pore refiner and makeup primer to minimize the look of pores while mattifying the skin for a clear and even canvas for your foundation.
The Dr. Brandt Foundation donates $1 from every purchase of this cult-favorite scrub to mental health programs. The Foundation also hosts a speaker series that features prominent artists, athletes, and cultural arbiters—on topics such as body image, and race and mental health—to help end stigma.
The result of all this is a nongreasy, fragrance-free eye cream that suits all skin types (even sensitive) and helps combat dark circles, fine lines and upper eyelid drooping. Yes, you can and should use it on your eyelids.
The lightweight primer doesn’t feel like a heavy base but is both hydrating and mattifying at the same time. I apply a small amount all over clean skin, and it instantly gives a blurring effect — so much so, I barely need foundation and have been using less concealer, too. The formula not only smooths out my skin complexion to hide my hyperpigmentation, but it also reduces pore size and actively works to improve skin texture.
The gel is formulated to produce similar results as in-office cosmetic procedures, including tightening saggy skin, smoothing fine lines, reducing puffy bags, and brightening dark circles. After using a face moisturizer, I took a small amount and warmed it up between my fingers for five seconds, as advised by the brand, then gently dabbed it across each of my under-eye circles. The area appeared red at first, but after a minute, I felt it drying and noticed the circles had lightened, and the skin felt physically tighter and smooth to the touch once it was fully dry.
